I have been researching the Robotic Prostatectomy for the past couple weeks because I have a brother who needs to have the procedure. As a surgeon myself I recognize the importance of the experience and skill of any surgeon performing any procedure... but especially in regards to a procedure with a steep learning curve such as this. No other surgeon appears to approach you (Dr Samadi) in terms of experience or expertise. Additionally I watched your video and was totally impressed with your tissue disection and general tissue handling techniques, use of bovie, etc. While I would really like my brother to have the procedure performed by yourself, he's depressed enough to let the "closest guy that knows robotics" to take a swing at it, as he is totally resistant to flying out to NY. My understanding is that this procedure can be performed remotely. Is that the case? Have you performed it remotely before; and when performed remotely is it the "same" experience or is it like gotomypc.com where the cursor lags and the typing is delayed when you access your office or other computer remotely. We have the latest DaVinci machines in our two major hospitals here in Tacoma, Washington (Tacoma General and St. Joseph's Hospitals)and I am hopeful you could access them remotely? If not, can you tell us who is the most trusted and experienced surgeon on the West Coast or Rocky Intermountain West for this procedure? Thank you in advance for your time and your answers.
Dr. Joseph Barrett
Tacoma, WA
PS: again, your disection with the DaVinci is amazing.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer last week. I am 62 years old and live close to Dallas, Texas. Other than this "bump in the road" I am in great health. After much research, I want to use the Davinci method for removal. I had 2 or 12 cores that were positive for cancer. How do I go about finding a skilled surgeon, preferably one who has used this method for over 500 procedures and whose patients have shown a small percentage of ED or Incontenance. Does anyone have a recommendation?
I am willing to travel.
