My story is surely the same as hundreds of patients that have gone before me, and hundreds more than will come after me. I feel, however, an uncontrollable desire to tell this story, hoping it helps someone who is in the same situation that I was and that they find it inspirational enough to make a decision that will help them feel reborn to a newer and fuller life.

It's now been a year and a half since I had a robotic prostatectomy and for the most part, I'm very satisfied with the results. My PSA is still zero (or undetectable) and I have absolutely no problems whatsoever with incontinence; I have no need for absorbent pads. I have regained my physical well-being and feel no limitations in that regard. I still, however, have yet to recover my pre-surgery erectile function. I can get a decent erection with Viagra and manual stimulation, but the spontaneous response is still missing. It has taken something away from my sex life with my wife and I miss that. I recall Bodawg asking awhile ago if anyone had had unaided sexual function return after surgery and I can't count myself in that category yet. My surgeon says that one should expect improvement for two or even three years after surgery; I wish I felt as confident as he appears to be. At any rate, given the possibilities, I probably shouldn't complain at all. Great success on two of the three fronts (cancer eradication, urinary continence, and sexual function) isn't something that many faced with this disease are fortunate enough to experience. I'll update this again somewhere down the line.

Hey Evans42,

Its good that you are doing great!. It's been a year and a half for me since I had the surgery too.
I understand your position on the spontaneous moments, but Evans42 you know we all are blessed to have had the cancer eradicated from our body, our urinary control back to normal and also have a feeling of self well being returned to our mind. So for this one minor point of concern, we can live with it..... smile:D ....Hopefully one day soon it will work as good as it once did.

kegel on.

Bo.
