Dr. Samadi suggests walking around, stretching, daily exercise, yoga, and replacing mattresses every 5-7 years as tips for improving back health. He also reminds viewers that back pain can be referred pain from other medical problems such as pancreatic disease, ulcers, kidney problems, and even cancer that has spread to the bone. Spinal stenosis and herniated discs are examples neurovascular or musculoskeletal problems that cause severe back pain.
