Down syndrome can now be detected as early as 10 weeks gestation through a simple, non-invasive blood test called MaterniT21, explains prostate cancer expert Dr. David Samadi. This new test is recommended for high-risk moms, including those over age 40. Typically, abnormalities in the fetus' heart or neck seen during ultrasound indicate the potential presence of Down syndrome. This new blood test could precede amniocentesis in detecting Down syndrome with 99% accuracy. If positive, the blood test should be followed by amniocentesis for confirmation.

While everyone’s choice of treatment should and will be different, I know by my outcome and recovery as well as my Dad, that choosing the Samadi Team and Mount Sinai Medical Center  as my hospital choice, was the right decision.

As I sit at home recuperating from surgery you performed this past Wednesday 4/29 I just felt a need to reach out to you to thank you for saving my life.

Alan H., New Jersey, USA

Words are not enough to express my heartfelt thanks to you and your staff for the successful outcome of my surgery. The compassion and care shown to me and my family by everyone made the journey through this most trying time much easier.
