Doctors David Samadi and Marc Siegel of the FOX News Medical A Team share some useful home remedies for people with slightly raised blood pressure.

Dr. Samadi explains that garlic has been a popular medicinal item as far back as ancient Egyptian history. Many studies have shown that it may boost the immune system, help with cardiac issues or even aid in the prevention of some forms of cancer. He goes on to point out however, that garlic is proven to have only marginal effects on blood pressure and should be used as complement to medical treatment, not a replacement. He goes on to warn patients choosing to use garlic that anacin, the chemical in garlic that helps dilate the blood vessels is eliminated if the garlic is cooked and should be eaten raw instead.

Dr. Siegel adds that watermelon, curry, and parsley have all been shown to positively effect blood pressure by stimulating the production of certain amino acids by the body. Despite these positive effects, he urges patients to seek out their doctors first and inform them of their symptoms, as failing to do so can result in a stroke or heart attack.
