Channel 12

Dr. David Samadi stresses the importance of prostate cancer screening, stating that men over 50 years of age should get a PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) test on an annual basis. Men with high risk factors for prostate cancer are advised to begin annual screening at the age of 40.

Dr. Samadi cautions that the appearance of symptoms is an indication that the prostate cancer has spread outside of the prostate and may, therefore, be very difficult to remove or treat.

Dr. Samadi is Vice Chairman of the Department of Urology and Chief of Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery at The Mount Sinai Medical Center. He is a robotic prostatectomy and prostate cancer treatment expert.
