Dr. David Samadi, robotic prostatectomy specialist, shares tips for caring for elderly parents long distance. Seniorcare, or eldercare, can be particularly challenging for those who have to manage care remotely. Dr. Samadi urges adult children to build relationships with their parents team of doctors and care providers, and communicate regularly through visits, texts, and emails. He suggests focusing on 4 F's - Fall prevention (making walking and wheelchair space safe), Food safety (in meal preparation and balanced meals), Fridge (as the perfect place to keep a list of all medications), and Family (discussing care level and plans for prolonged care). Taking care of yourself and managing stress is also key.
