Robotic prostate surgery, in almost all cases, results in a zero PSA level for life. In this segment, David B. Samadi, MD, addresses the rare incidence of a fluctuating PSA level after prostate removal surgery. Dr. Samadi explains that a PSA rise after surgery could indicate the presence of benign tissue or a cancer recurrence. Elevation timing and speed of change are important factors in assessing the patient’s status. In the case of recurrence, prostate cancer radiation is an effect secondary treatment.
