Robotic prostate surgery, in almost all cases, results in a zero PSA level for life. In this segment, David B. Samadi, MD, addresses the rare incidence of a fluctuating PSA level after prostate removal surgery. Dr. Samadi explains that a PSA rise after surgery could indicate the presence of benign tissue or a cancer recurrence. Elevation timing and speed of change are important factors in assessing the patient’s status. In the case of recurrence, prostate cancer radiation is an effect secondary treatment. Dr. Samadi invites all men newly diagnosed with prostate cancer to contact him for a secondary consultation.
