Monday, August 13th
My name is Mark, I am 63 years old, I was told this past Thursday that I have Gleason 7 prostate cancer.   I decided to make an appointment to see Dr. Samadi... that's how it started.

Friday, August 17th
My wife Sally and I got to your office at 1pm for our 1:30 appointment.  We were warmly greeted and escorted into your office.   and were told you would be in shortly.  As we were waiting , you were walking down the hall, talking on your cell phone.  When you saw us waiting , you asked the person you were talking with to hold on, you walked in, introduced yourself to us, said you would be with us shortly, then looked me right in the eyes and said “and don't you worry about a thing... I've got you.”  That simple act of humanity is something     I will never forget.  It also told me that you were the man I wanted to treat me.

We met with Ann. What can I say.... She was knowledgeable, kind, compassionate and passionate about what she does.  What a joy to know she is part of your team.  I would later learn that she is indicative of everybody on your team.

Then, you came in and we talked.  The more I listened, the more I realized that you were the man I wanted to treat me.  “Mark, I don't care what your Gleason score is... you have a bomb in your body, and were going to get it out.”  My decision was easy.  You suggested we get a private room at Eleven West so Sally could stay with me … we did.  What a good decision that was.  

Friday, September 21st
You performed a robotic protectorate on me, and a week later you called to tell me the pathology showed you had gotten all the cancer and said, “Mark, there is no more cancer in your body.”  Nurse Helen called to check up on me several days later.

I am now 2 ½ weeks post op.  Every single thing that you and your staff said would happen not only happened, but happened when you said it would.

I guess that prostate cancer is a fact of life today.  It truly is a comfort to know that people like you and your team are available to provide superior treatment and offer the best shot at a favorable outcome.  You and your team are exemplary models of how medicine should be practiced and how patients should be treated.

So to Dr. Samadi and to your team, thank you for being so professional, thank you for being so compassionate and thank you most of all for being so HUMAN.
