Earlier this year I was given the devastating news that I had prostate cancer.  I was diagnosed after a routine company medical, followed by a Biopsy.  From that day and during the following weeks I researched the subject to try and find a subtitle course of treatment.
Having quickly eliminated Radiotherapy and deciding to pursue surgery, my next step was to choose a suitable hospital, decide on the type of surgery and perhaps most importantly, select the right surgeon.

Being British I had an obvious option to utilize the National Health Service, after all I have paid into the service during my working life and perhaps it would seem foolish not to take advantage of the “free treatment”.  Faced with trying to eliminate a disease that could easily eliminate me, I decided to seek that I could find regardless of location.

From the advice I revived, one particular message kept being repeated, that message was to choose a good surgeon who had already completed a large number of similar procedures.  Following that advice I eventually decided to pay for my treatment and pursue a quality surgeon in a highly reputable hospital.  This led me to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and to Dr. Samadi and his team.

After contacting the Urology department I was contacted by the doctors PA followed by a call from Dr. Samadi who had reviewed my case notes.  I was fully reassured by Dr. Samadi having confirmed that he could help me and was very positive regarding the planned treatment and results.  

I had my Prostate removed and was up walking later that same day.  I was issued painkillers but needed none.      My recovery was quick and four months post operation I feel good and almost back to normal.  My two PSA tests taken at 2 &4 months post operation are .004 and .003.

Did I make the right choice, yes, I have no doubt that I did make the right choice.  I wish to personally thank Dr. Samadi and his team for their skill and kindness shown during my treatment.
