Last year I was diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer. I had anticipated that the biopsy findings would be negative and I was stunned with this diagnosis.
We researched the different methodologies for prostate cancer treatment and met with surgeons in two prominent hospital centers in New York before we met with Dr. Samadi.
Dr. Samadi is the foremost urologic oncologic surgeon in the world who performs the robotic radical prostatectomy, a minimally-invasive treatment for organ-confined prostate cancer. To date, Dr. Samadi has performed more than 2,000 of these surgeries using the da Vinci S HD-Surgical System.
The day we met Dr. Samadi, my wife and I knew right there that he was the one to handle this surgery for me. He is an extremely warm, confident, intelligent, charismatic, and caring person who instilled confidence and reassured us that everything was going to be alright. He explained that he does the surgery himself utilizing the robot, but that he has a skilled, hand-picked team who works with him at all times.
Dr. Samadi performed my successful 1 ½ hour robotic surgery on Jan. 28, 2010. Prior to surgery, he told us that he is concerned with removing my cancer, restoring continence, and maintaining sexual function. He is a man of his word, as he did all three of those things.
Dr. Samadi described every step of this process to us and he was totally accurate in all details. Even better, there always was a member of his team in place to make my surgery and recovery easier and smoother.
Post-operatively, I was walking around later that day and I was discharged from Mount Sinai by 12 noon the next day.
Six weeks after surgery, my PSA is now 0.02. I am very happy with that report and, moreover, my wife and I are extremely happy that we chose Dr. Samadi, a wonderfully competent doctor and an outstanding human being.
I am now no longer a cancer patient. I am a cancer survivor thanks to Dr. Samadi and his professional team!
