Dr. Samadi Performs Rambam’s First Robotic Prostatectomy
Rambam Health Care Campus, 2:36, 12/23/2010
Dr. David Samadi has performed Rambam Health Care Campus’ very first robotic prostatectomy using their newly acquired da Vinci Robotic Prostatectomy machine. This surgery has helped Rambam join the forefront of world class hospitals who offer prostate removal by means of the da Vinci system.
The first patient at Rambam to undergo this surgery is a 72 year old man from Haifa; he is also the first man in Israel to be operated on by Dr. Samadi. When asked how he felt about coming to Israel to do this surgery Dr. Samadi said, “… To be able to do this is a great privilege and we’re delighted to be here.”
Research shows that robotic prostate surgery promotes shorter hospital stays and fewer infections, eliminates the danger of hemorrhaging, and reduces the risk of post operative sexual dysfunction.
The acquisition of the $2.6 million da Vinci system was made possible by the generosity of Fred and Nader Ohebshalom, the Iranian American Jewish Federation of New York, the Wolfson Foundation, the Crown Foundation, Alan C. Mendelson, and the Technion Israel Institute of Technology.Back to Videos
